Bio
Hi, I’m Peter! I’m a multi-instrumentalist and music teacher based in Denver, Colorado. I have been a passionate student of music for over two decades and offer lessons on many instruments including guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, piano, and voice.
I had constant exposure to classical music in my early years as my mother taught private piano and upright bass lessons in our home. I studied piano with my mother and studied cello and voice throughout all my elementary school years. Middle and high school brought lots of performance experience for me in realms of musical theater, show choir, and standing choirs. In high school I bought my first acoustic guitar and began teaching myself the basics of the instrument.
After high school graduation I continued my exploration of all things music at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington where I had the privilege of participating in several vocal, jazz, and guitar ensembles. Classes in Music Theory, Music History, Ear Training, and Improvisation also contributed to my growth and appreciation for what it takes to be a working musician in a competitive industry. The private lessons I took in jazz guitar, composition, and voice all complimented my studies and honed my performance capabiliites. While attending PLU, I enjoyed mentorship from several distinguished faculty members of the university including Dr. Cassio Vianna for Improvisation Seminar and Jazz Ensemble, Dr. Greg Youtz for Composition lessons, and Dr. Steve Howland for Jazz Guitar lessons.
While in college, I had the honor of joining the reputable all-male Acapella group on campus called PLUtonic. I served as PLUtonic Acapella Vice President and helped the group earn a Quarterfinals advancement in the 2015 ICCA Competition, being invited to perform at Pomona College in Southern California for Semifinals.
After my college studies, I returned to Denver and began my career as a performer. I found a special opportunity to stage public street performances for the many pedestrians of downtown Denver. I have used these public street performances as an opportunity to refine my technique, expand my repertoire, and build a small (but dedicated) local network of friends and fans. In addition to my public performances, I am regularly hired to perform at parties and farmer’s markets as a solo performer or as the lead guitarist/vocalist of my rock trio cover band, Mall People.
I am grateful that music is the language that I live and breathe every day. Each new day I am hard at work in my home studio transcribing new songs for guitar, analyzing harmony from traditional jazz standards, and learning classic tunes on piano. I am passionate about all different genres of music and am especially fond of Rock n’ Roll and Jazz.
Outside of music, I am passionate about fitness, reading a good book, and playing games with my friends and family.
