Improvisation Tips

Improvisation Tips:

  1. Keep your place: if you hit a note that doesn’t sound right (out of the scale) move half step up or down and you will probably be back in the scale or chord.
  2. Use repetition. The listener needs to hear those. Otherwise he or she will never be able to remember anything that you played.
  3. Always check your favorite guitar players and their solos. You have got to listen to get ideas. Everybody imitates everybody.
  4. Record yourself and go over the parts that you like and dislike.
  5. Use all the patterns you might know – Examples below
